He was predeceased by: his parents, Wayne Riter and Mary Ruth Riter (Monical); and his brother-in-law Larry Johns. He is survived by: his wife Carole Riter of Keokuk; his children, Misty Arrowood (Tony) of Keokuk and Thad Riter of Kahoka; his grandchildren, Abby Wrieden (Brett) of Keokuk, Halo Arrowood of Keokuk and Kain Arrowood of Keokuk; his great grandchild Jade Wrieden of Keokuk; his siblings, Jeanne McMahan (Steve) of Des Moines and Jeff Riter of Keokuk; and his brother-in-law Donnie Johns (Susan) of Keokuk. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews and cousins.
