He was predeceased by: his parents, Henry Hamner and Ethel Bender Hamner; and his siblings, Richard Hamner, Charles Hamner, Ralph Hamner, Delbert Hamner, Ruby Dewitt and Opal Pearl.
He is survived by: his wife Karen Worrell Dewey; his children, David Hamner (Lori) of Kahoka and Deneen Hamner of Ft. Madison; his stepchildren, Von Dewey of Keokuk and Monique Sartin (Darren) of Ames, IA; his grandchildren, Gage Hamner of Kahoka, MO, Trace Hamner of Kahoka, MO, Chelsie Dewey of Keokuk, Bailie Kirchner (Brock) of Wyaconda, MO and Jennifer Boudreau of Keokuk; and his great grandchildren, Briggs Kirchner, Beck Kirchner, Callahan Hamner, Tegan Kent and Ayden Davis. He is also survived by several cousins, nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to New Testament Christian Church.
