He was predeceased by: his parents, John Braaksma and Carrie Braaksma (Van Wyk); and his siblings, Rob Braaksma, Gertie Hites, Fran Enyart, Bud Braaksma, Lou Braaksma, Butch Braaksma, Viola Mae Braaksma and Wayne Braaksma.
He is survived by: his wife Sherrill Andrews of Kellogg; his children, Marty Braaksma (Franchette) of Newton, Tracy Rivers (Jon) of Ava and Jenny Herduin (Travis) of Newton; his grandchildren, Chase Rivers, Justin Rivers, Brklyn Ross (Mark), Jacob Herduin (Brooke Logue), Hadley Braaksma (Jaydlin Seehase), Hanna Herduin (Luis Guevara) and Ethan Braaksma (Korin McCrory); and his sister Lee Nielsen (Harold). He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, many nieces and nephews.
Memorials to the American Cancer Association or the John Stoddard Cancer Center can be sent to the family or left at the Wallace Family Funeral Home and Crematory in Newton.
