He was predeceased by: his parents, Lewis C. Ropp and Magdalena Ropp (Hershberger); his wife Mary; his siblings, Ernest Ropp, Omer Ropp, Esther Ropp, Mary Jane Ropp, Ella Mae Ropp, Lydia Gingerich, Effie Baer, Ada Gingerich, Edith Helmuth and Verda Swartzendruber; and his sisters-in-law, Ardith Ropp and Pearl Ropp.
He is survived by: his children, Steve Ropp (Kathy) of Iowa City, Sonda Uitermarkt (Mike) of Tiffin and Marla Hess (Perry) of Bettendorf; his grandchildren, Matt Ropp (Rachel), Jason Ropp (Elizabeth), Nicole Elliott (Nathan), Ben Reinartz (Deanna Holroyd), Alex Hess (Sarah) and Jake Hess; and his sister Martha Bender of Kalona, IA. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, January 31st 2025 from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church (501 14th St, Kalona, IA 52247). A funeral service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 9:00 AM at the Sharon Hill Cemetery. A memorial service was held on Saturday, February 1st 2025 at 10:30 AM at the Sunnyside Mennonite Church (501 14th St, Kalona, IA 52247).
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established for the Pleasantview Home.
