He was predeceased by: his parents, Gail L. Swartzendruber and Virginia Swartzendruber (Snyder); his sister Sue Ross; his brother-in-law Roman Miller; and his niece Steffany Swartzendruber.
He is survived by: his wife Joyce Blum (Harvey) of Kalona; his children, Kelly Smith (Calvin) of Moberly, MO, Kyle Swartzendruber (Nicole) of Clark, MO and Jerri Kron (Jim) of Riverside, IA; his grandchildren, Alaina Smith, Drake Gross (Trea), Aaron Kron and Averi Kron (Owen); his great grandchildren, Kinsley Jo and Houston; his siblings, Linda Miller of Guernsey, IA, Bill Swartzendruber (Salinda) of Bellevue, NE, Dave Swartzendruber (Deb) of Riverside, IA, Patty Swartzendruber of Iowa City, IA and Kevin Swartzendruber (Carol) of Kalona, IA; and his brother-in-law Paul Ross of Casa Grande, AZ. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Friday, February 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Peterseim Funeral Home (201 B Ave, Kalona, IA 52247). A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 22nd 2025 at 11:00 AM at the Kalona United Methodist Church (302 4th St, Kalona, IA 52247).
A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona Volunteer Fire Department and Richmond Am-Vets Post #107.
