He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Helmuth and Barbara Helmuth (Miller); his siblings, Edgar Helmuth, Katie Yoder, Susan Yoder, Raymond Helmuth and Emma Hostetler; and his siblings-in-law, Paul Yoder, Sylvanus Yoder, Bertha Helmuth and Ida Helmuth.
He is survived by: his wife Edith of Kalona; his children, Wava Gingerich (Lawrence) of Plain City, Arlis Helmuth (Loretta) of Kalona, Keith Helmuth (Laurie) of Sarasota, Bev Helmuth of Sarasota, Curtis Helmuth (Cande) of Kalona and Doyle Helmuth of Sarasota, Florida; his grandchildren, Wendell Gingerich (Bethany), Richard Gingerich, Zachary Hyman, Darin Helmuth (Emily), Justin Helmuth (Drew), Brandon Helmuth (Kayla), Lance Helmuth (McKenzie), Cierra Helmuth, Niva Helmuth, Jaimee Helmuth, Makayla Helmuth and Molly Helmuth; his great grandchildren, Carston Gingerich, Elliana Gingerich, Luke Gingerich and Masynn Helmuth; and his brother-in-law Leslie Hostetler of Kalona.
