He was predeceased by: his parents, Alva J Gingerich and Mildred Gingerich (Schneider); his wife Marilyn; his sons, Ronald and Lowell; his great grandchildren, Lowell Gingerich and Ezra Gingerich; and his brother Alva (Ruby Gingerich).

He is survived by: his daughters-in-law, Darlene and Delores; his children, Kevin (Susan) and Evelyn (Vernon Smith); and his grandchildren, Torrey Gingerich (Jody), Tyrell Gingerich (Amanda), Tristan Gingerich (Jacque), Jeremiah Gingerich (Katie), Zachary Gingerich (Tricia), Victor Gingerich (Megan), Harlan Gingerich (Kayla), Aaron Gingerich (Ronna), Catherine Armstrong (Dylan), Philip Gingerich (Amy), Christopher Gingerich (Megan) and Sarah Sandholm (Jacob).

A memorial fund has been established for the Kalona United Methodist Church or the Lone Tree Health Care Center.
