It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Clara H Gingerich of Kalona, Iowa, born in Arthur, Illinois, who passed away on January 3, 2024, at the age of 99, leaving to mourn family and friends. She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry J. Kauffman and Mary Ann Kauffman (Stutzman); her husband George N. Gingerich; and her siblings, Joe Kauffman (Mattie), Martha Stutzman (John), Katie Miller (Lester), Esther Borntrager (A. D.), Jacob Kauffman (Jean), Levi Kauffman and Harvey Kauffman (Fannie).
She is survived by: her children, Elwin Gingerich (Linda) of Haven, KS, Lynn Gingerich (Bonnie) of Iowa City, IA, Arlene Lopez (Bob) of Maynard, MA, Judi Thrapp (Kevin) of Keota, IA, Mary Paustian of Tipton, IA and Cheryne Yoder (Reg) of Iowa City, IA; and her brother-in-law Eldon Miller of Kentucky. She is also survived by 15 grandchildren; numerous great and great-great grandchildren.
A memorial fund has been established for the Crowded Closet, the University of Iowa Stead Children's Hospital and First Mennonite Church.
