James Schaer Obituary
With heavy hearts, we announce the death of James Schaer of Johnston, Iowa, born in Elgin, Iowa, who passed away on June 5, 2022 at the age of 83. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Schaer and Maude Schaer; his siblings, John, Mary Ann and Martha; and his grandson Tristan James Sawtelle.
He is survived by: his wife Martha Wagner; his children, Mindy Sawtelle (Jim) of Superior, David Schaer (Vicki) of Urbandale and Steve Schaer of Johnston; his grandchildren, Anna Lisa, Caroline, Joseph Sawtelle, Samantha Rose (Jesse), Allyson, Natalie and JD Schaer; and his siblings-in-law, Alice Schaer, John Wagner (Mary), David Messerschmidt and Kathy Muller. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
