He is survived by: his wives, Esther Backstrom and Esther Crowell of Johnston; his siblings, Joy Cummings (Daryl) of Des Moines, Ramona Ward of Johnston, Dorothy Brooks of Johnston, Donella Lint of Johnston and John Crowell (Isabelle) of Urbandale; his daughter Lisa Ann Crowell of Des Moines; and his stepchildren, Anna Marie "Sheri" Krpan (Larry) of Clive, Vernon Backstrom (Jody) of Milo, Russell Backstrom of Des Moines, Becky Lynn Backstrom of Des Moines and Rodney Backstrom of Des Moines. He is also survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren, other loving family, and special friends.
