It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Dale Eugene Nielsen of Johnston, Iowa, born in Atlantic, Iowa, who passed away on May 21, 2024, at the age of 85, leaving to mourn family and friends. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Jens Nielsen and Elise Jorgensen Nielsen; his sisters, Clara, Dagney, Karen, Thelma and Agnes; and his siblings-in-law, Frances Nielsen, Carol Hemmingsen and Richard Hemmingsen.

He is survived by: his wife La Vila Marie Nielsen (Johnson) of Marne, IA; his daughters, Kayleen Foshe (David) of Parker, CO, Kristine Friestad (Monte) of Granger and Kerrie Mohler (Matt); his grandchildren, Maren Friedman (Ben) of Des Moines, Frances Nielsen of Des Moines, Marijke Nielsen of Tucson, AZ, Anneke Nielsen of Coralville, Kaleb Foshe (Cait), Keenan Foshe of Denver, CO, Monte Friestad Jr. (Taylor) of Ankeny, Derek Friestad, Jacob, Mackenzie and Easton Mohler; and his sister-in-law Cindy Nielsen of Knoxville, IA. He is also survived by nieces and nephews; and many friends.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in loving memory of Dale Nielsen.
