He was predeceased by: his parents, Bert Sharer and Nellie Sharer (Meech); his wife Betty Sharer (Isvik); his son James; his siblings, Woodrow Sharer (Donna), Jack Sharer (Lucille), Billy Sharer (Thelma), Frances Hay (Ted), Gertrude Sipes (Clyde) and Delores Anselme (Dale); his brother-in-law Knute Troen; and his sister Lois.
He is survived by: his children, Linda Wheeler (Ron), Larry Sharer (Donna) and Jerry Sharer; his daughter-in-law Gloria Sharer; and his siblings, Kathy Troen Young and Dick Sharer (Jeanne). He is also survived by four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
