He was predeceased by: his parents, Matthew Mathias Ortner and Margaret Ortner (Brown); his wife Coleen Ann Slater; and his siblings, Robert, John Francis Ortner, Kathleen Sorensen, Dorothy Youngblut, Dolores Kimmel and Mary Knebel.
He is survived by: his children, Karen Ferris of Jesup, Lisa Ortner of Washburn, Linda McGarvey (Steve) of Jesup, Lori Fox (Ray) of Gilbertville, Julie Lincoln (Todd) of Independence, Kevin Ortner (Pam) of Jesup, Jeff Ortner of Jesup, Mike Ortner (Laurie) of Shellsburg, Chris Ortner (Lesley) of Gilbertville, Brian Ortner (Jessica) of Jesup and Joseph Ortner (Ashley) of Gilbertville; and his sister Helen Weber of Raymond, IA.. He is also survived by 26 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren.
Masks and social distancing will be required.
Memorials may be directed to, St. Athanasius Church and St. Athanasius School in Jesup or to the Bosco System in Gilbertville.
