He was predeceased by: his parents, Harold Betterton and Margaret Betterton (Clarke); his grandson Michael; his brother Dave Betterton; and his siblings-in-law, Dick Hopkins and Marsha Betterton.

He is survived by: his wife Pat of Jesup, IA; his children, Chuck Betterton (Kimberly) of Shellsburg, IA, Paul Betterton (Lisa) of Atkins, IA, Becky Kuper (Morgan) of Jesup, IA and Matthew Betterton (Jodie) of Vinton, IA; his grandchildren, Morgan, Charlie (Sydney), Keaton (Dakota), Kelsey (Nate), Kaylee (Luke), Katie, Kaden, Kolten, Taylor, Jake Paige (Kate), Sam, Maddie, Jack, Johnathon (Tealya), Scott (Alexis) and Mike; his great grandchildren, Ivy, Owen, Aly, Max and Ruby; and his siblings, Sara Hopkins of Knoxville, IA and Joe Betterton of Knoxville, IA..
