She was predeceased by: her parents, Alvin and Mary Wray Cox, Sr.; her parents-in-law, Vincent Schmitz and Beatrice Schmitz; and her brothers-in-law, Fredrick Schmitz and Robert Schmitz.

She is survived by: her former husband Roger Boyd; her husband Randy Schmitz; her children, Chadwick Boyd (Trudi) of Trenton and Kristal Boyd (David Wilder) of Waterloo; her stepchildren, Wesley Womack (Sarah) of Scarville and Angela DeSerano (Daniel) of Cedar Falls; her sisters, Barbara Bayer (William) of Murrells Inlet, S. C. and Carolyn McLean (Fredrick) of Buckeye, Ariz.; her half-brother Alvin Cox, Jr. (Deborah) of LaMasa, Calif.; and her siblings-in-law, Richard Schmitz (Marilyn) of Waterloo, Russell Schmitz of Waterloo, Charles Schmitz of Waterloo, Kevin Schmitz of Mesa, Ariz., Carol Schmitz of Haysville, Kan, Roxanne Gavigan (Rich) of Evansdale and Suzanne Manross (Steve) of Waverly. She is also survived by 14 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.
