Jim left this world on December 26, 2024 at the age of 84, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Gaubatz and Anita Gaubatz (Devereux); his wife Marla King; and his brother-in-law Marv Clifton. He is survived by: his children, Monica Penning (Roy), Tina Gaubatz, Joe Gaubatz (Kim) and Nicole Martin (Wayne); his grandchildren, Erin Grimm (David), Kaitlyn Renberg (Danny), Heather Redenius (Mitch), Justin Brady, Bobbie Jo Brady-Dahl (Brett), Gabby Gaubatz (Griffin Cameron), Grady Gaubatz (Kori Knox) and Kyle Prahm (Sarah); his great grandchildren, Gwendolyn, Gavin Grimm, Lee, Louis, Lainey Renberg, Ellie, Brenson Dahl, Raelynne Brady, Kolsen, Keaton and Kallen Prahm; and his siblings, Marv Gaubatz (Faye) and Marlene Bohl (Roger). He is also survived by many nieces and nephews, extended family, and many friends.
A rosary was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 4:00 PM at the Hogan Bremer Moore Colonial Chapel (126 3rd St NE, Mason City, IA 50401). Visitation was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 from 4:30 PM to 7:00 PM at the same location. A wake was held on Monday, December 30th 2024 at 6:30 PM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial was held on Tuesday, December 31st 2024 at 10:30 AM at the Epiphany Parish - St. Joseph (300 5th St SE, Mason City, IA 50401).
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in care of Jim's family, to be given to a charity in Jim and Marla's honor.
