He was predeceased by: his parents, James Nolan and Dorothy Nolan (Clark); his wife Yvonne H. Ohlsen; and his siblings, Donovan, Charlotte "Dixie", Raymond, Jerome, Daniel and Susan.

He is survived by: his children, Theresa Boylan of Dallas Center, Jeff Nolan of Altoona, Steve Nolan of Dallas Center and Deborah Nolan of Adel; and his siblings, Nicholas Nolan (Teresa) of Redfield and Juanita Bullard of Wellman. He is also survived by seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
