She was predeceased by: her father Dennis Medalen. She is survived by: her mother Faye Medalen (Veltkamp); her child Sandy; her husband Dave Van Der Brink; her children, Justin Van Der Brink, Felix Van Der (Krystal), Josh Van Der (Elizabeth), Devin Van Der (Lisa) and Heidi McInnis (Kirk); and her siblings, Doug Medalen (Brenda), Wanda Van Otterloo (Steve), Sonia Schemling (Mark) and Nicki Curry (Chuck Shrider). She is also survived by grandchildren.
She continued her service to the community as an paraeducator at West Sioux Elementary, an urgent care receptionist at the Hawarden Hospital, and taught CPR for American Heart Association.
