He was loved and cherished by many people including: his mother Hermina Van Roekel (Zomer); his wife Patti Van Roekel of Ireton; his son Michael Van Roekel (Jill); his grandchildren, Connor, Bailey, Lauren of LeMars and Lisa Van Der (Devin); his great grandchildren, Madison and Emma of Ireton; his siblings, Jerrold Van Roekel (Elaine) of Rock Valley, Harlan Van Roekel (Gert) of Grand Rapids, John Van Roekel (Sheryl) of Coopersville, Dennis Van Roekel (Glenda) of Sioux Center, Jan DeKruyf (Randy) of Sioux Center and Cindy Van Beek (Brent) of Orange City, Iowa; his brothers-in-law, Ray Wilkens (Kim) of LeMars and Doug Wilkens (Mel) of Hawarden; his father Cornie Van Roekel; his parents-in-law, Glenn and Beverly Wilkens; and his siblings-in-law, Vicki, Judy Wilkens and Michael Wilkens. He was also cherished by his wife, children, grandchildren.
