He was predeceased by: his sister Collene Tjarks; his father Gary Tjarks Sr.; his stepfather Stanley Abkes; and his brother Gary Tjarks Jr.. He is survived by: his mother Karen Ileen Tjarks (Jacobson) of Iowa Falls; his wife Mary Jo Butler; his children, Joshua Tjarks of Smiths Station, Alabama, Joseph Tjarks (Candy) of Alden, Iowa and Joni Tjarks of Iowa Falls; his siblings, Doug Tjarks (Alane) of Indianola, Shelly Huffman (Tom) of Buckeye, Kevin Tjarks of Buckeye, Kim Abkes (Jane) of Iowa Falls, Alice Abkes of Iowa Falls, Richard Abkes of Iowa Falls and Leonard Abkes of Iowa Falls; and his sister-in-law Rhonda Wood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
