She was predeceased by: her parents, Tom Kadlec and Mary Kadlec (Martin). She is survived by: her son Richard Barger (Kris); her grandchildren, Alyssa, Zoe and Ryker; her great grandchildren, Oliver and Archer; her brother Tom; and her close friend Linda. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was a thoughtful, generous person who chose to donate her body to the University of Iowa Hospital for research.
