He was predeceased by: his parents, John Herman and Louise Mary Lechtenberg (Schwamman); his siblings, Oliver Lechtenberg, Ray Lechtenberg (Linda), Ruth McDonald (Ray), Rita Wondershide and Regina Martindale; and his partner's children, Mylssia Fencl and Bryan Fencl.
He is survived by: his friend JoAnn Brookins; his children, Jim Lechtenberg of Cedar Falls and Lois Snell of Cedar Falls; his grandchildren, Dylan and Sydney Snell; his brothers-in-law, Marty Wondershide of Waverly and Peter Martindale of Oelwein; his sister Roseann Smock; and also, Brad Fencl of Ionia, Ray Steele of Des Moines and James Bluhm of Charles City.
