She is survived by: her parents, Heath Essen and Amber Van Essen (Kooistra) of Inwood; her sister Chloe Van Essen; and her grandparents, Arvin, Carol Van Essen of Rock Valley, Iowa, Mike and Ranae Kooistra of Doon, Iowa. She is also survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Memorials may be given to the Kendra Van Essen Benefit Fund or the Inwood EMS.
