He is survived by: his children, Trish Mayer (Dave) of Sioux Falls, Craig De Ruyter (Julie) of Rock Rapids, Lisa Sitzmann (Kyle) of Le Mars, Scott De Ruyter (Sarah) of Kitchener, Ontario and Michelle Fischer (Jay) of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Carrie Moritz (Garrick), Jaime Moir (Aron), Sheila Peelen (Brett), Ashley, Austin Fischer, Cody De Ruyter, Ryan, Megan, Ben Sitzmann and Alex Fischer; his great grandchildren, Morgan, Leif Moritz, Kate, Zach, Owen Moir, Koby, Parker Peelen and Gavin Knopf; his siblings, Gert Van Engen, Mina Poppens (Ed), Mary Ann Gunnink, Rich De Ruyter (Fran) and Carol Hill (Rich); and his siblings-in-law, Margaret De Ruyter, Linda Wissink (Rich), Darrell Gildemeister (Buff) and Denny Gildemeister (Mary).
