She was predeceased by: her adoptive parents, Bert Smothers and Rusha Jane Smothers; her husband Harold Richard Hougland; her birth mother Edna Maye Ross; and her sister Peggy Douglas of Colorado Springs, Colorado..
She is survived by: her daughters, Cindy Barbas of St. Augustine, Rhonda Shorr (Casey) of Murfreesboro and Brenda Cooper (Robert) of Indianola, Iowa.; her grandchildren, Misty Garofalo (Craig) of St. Augustine, Elizabeth Bates (Jake) of Story City, David Cooper (Trisha) of Deford, Erica Johnson (Chad) of Indianola, Alaina Gumto (Dale) of Nolensville and Matthew Shorr (Heather) of Gallatin, Tennessee.; and her great grandchildren, Madeline Garofalo, Emily Garofalo, Chloe Garofalo, Isaiah Bates, Moriah Bates, Hannah Bates, Sophia Bates, Eliana Bates, Isabella Cooper, Alaythia Cooper, Evangeline Cooper, Owen Cooper, Grant Cooper, Sonya Cooper, Silas Cooper, Grayson Gumto, Landry Gumto, Emmeline Gumto, Isaac Johnson, Aubrie Johnson, Eli Johnson, Ryland Shorr, Coen Shorr and Isla Shorr.
Visitation will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM at the Overton Funeral Home (501 W Ashland Ave, Indianola, IA 50125). A funeral service will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the same location. A burial will be held on Monday, March 3rd 2025 at the Indianola Ioof Memorial Gardens Cemetery (1202 S Jefferson Way, Indianola, IA 50125).
In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Suncrest Hospice or St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Sally's memory.
