He was predeceased by: his parents, Andrew Short and Lillian Short; and his sister Rita Monahan (Greg). He is survived by: his wife Peggy Short; his children, Jennifer Kinner (Bruce), Andrea Wheatley (Paul), Jeffrey Thomas Short (Angie) and Daniel Thomas Short (Jessica); and his brothers, Jerald Short, Independence Short and Michael Short. He is also survived by thirteen grandchildren; a great grandchild.
