He is survived by: his former wives, Judy May Shonka and Josie Mae Bordenaro; his children, Kevin VanLaningham of Independence, IA., Kris VanLaningham of Independence, IA. and Karmalyn VanLaningham of Independence, IA.; his grandson Bret Wittmayer, Jr. (Jessica) of Waterloo, IA.; his sister Lynda Gustafson of Phoenix, AZ; and his close friend Judy Shonka. He is also survived by 4 great-grandchildren, 3 nieces, 1 nephew, 8 cousins.
