He was predeceased by: his parents, Verna Mabel Blank McCardle and Merritt James McCardle; his sister Mary Alice; his stepmother Mary; his siblings, Rodger McCardle (Pat), Ken McCardle (Jean), Jean Parrish (Don), Marva Schmidt (Don), Robert McCardle (Mary) and John McCardle; his son-in-law Richard Postel; and his great grandchild Aaron Postel.

He is survived by: his children, Charlie McCardle (Cindy), Kathy Postel, Independence, Connie Schnepf (Jeff), Hazleton, Verna Sperfslage (Don), Winthrop and Richard McCardle (Brenda); his sisters, RoseMary Sironen (Joe) of Geneva, OH and Elaine Lee (Fred); and his sister-in-law Beverly McCardle of Brandon, IA.. He is also survived by Eleven grandchildren and sixteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
