She was predeceased by: her parents, Henry P. Schmidt and Anna Schmidt (Brunscheon); her husband James Schmitt; her son Greg Schmitt; and her brother Floyd Schmidt.

She is survived by: her children, Brad Schmitt (Peggy) of Oelwein, IA, Beth Goodenbour (Randy) and Jeanne Tonn (Le); her daughter-in-law Pam Schmitt of Cedar Falls, IA; and her siblings, Don Schmidt (Helen) of Grundy Center, IA and Velda Sterrett of Waterloo, IA. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren.
