He was predeceased by: his parents, Earl Leander Coulter and Wanda Lillian Coulter (Wright); his wife Madonna Dorothy Kerkove; his grandchildren, Erin Henderson and Dean Roepke; his siblings, Betty Conrad, Therma Jean Andrews, Marthalene Tull, Mary Horn, Wanda Lehrkamp, Earlene Devlin, Robert Coulter and Kenneth Coulter; and his daughter-in-law Kristi Coulter.
He is survived by: his children, Diana Henderson (Edwin) of Independence, IA, Patricia Nielsen (William) of Marengo, IA, Carol Quass (Robert) of Independence, IA, Janet Soukup (Timothy) of Story City, IA, Randy Coulter (Nancy) of Independence, IA, William Coulter of Independence, IA, Darryl Coulter (Michele) of Cape Coral, FL and John Coulter (Sharon) of Urbandale, IA; and his brother-in-law Eugene Devlin of Dundee, IA.. He is also survived by 19 grandchildren; 32 great grandchildren.
