With profound sadness, we say goodbye to Emil J. Hiykel of Ida Grove, Iowa, born in Omaha, Nebraska, whose vibrant spirit touched the lives of many. Emil left this world on October 11, 2024 at the age of 76, leaving a void in the lives of so many people. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.

He was predeceased by: his parents, Fay J. G. and Marie C. Hiykel (Rotolo); his son Justin S. Hiykel; his siblings, Joseph Hiykel, Raymond Hiykel, Pauline Griffin (Wilson), Alice Kline, Kathy Erickson and Loretta Suverkrubbe; and his brother-in-law Arne Svenningsen.

He is survived by: his daughter Lyndsay Lindberg (Rory); his daughter-in-law Theresa Westfall of Peru, NE; his former wife Sandra Hiykel of Ida Grove, IA; his siblings, Patty Svenningsen of Blair, NE, Marie Hiykel of Omaha, NE, Virginia Horrell (Stanley) of Omaha, NE and Fay Hiykel Jr. (Margee) of Blair, NE; and his siblings-in-law, Ardelle Hiykel of Omaha, NE, Saundra Hiykel of Omaha, NE and Ray Crisman of Omaha, NE.

“There is a lasting friendship that started in January of 1971 when Emil and I started our police training for the Omaha Police Department. That friendship continued to the end and we especially enjoyed all the recent times when Emil came to Omaha for the Fuzz that Wuzz police retirement lunches and we sat, ate, and shared many old memories from all the years that we knew each other. He was a very good friend and a spiritual buddy over the years and I am going to miss him greatly. RIP my friend.”
