He was predeceased by: his parents, Jacob Torkelson and Amy Torkelson (Warland); his daughter Jackie Daggy (Brad); his son-in-law Tom Bandstra; and his parents-in-law, Naomi Torkelson, Dick Christopher, Cecil Pedersen, Melvin Lehman, Beverly, Ralph Bowen, Nina, Mike Abrams and Paula Torkelson.
He is survived by: his wife Mildred Kirchhof; his children, Cynthia Bandstra of Chattanooga, TN, Mike Torkelson (Mary), Becky Jones (Randy) of Anderson, SC, Shelly Phillips and Dave Torkelson (Joni); and his siblings, Lois Christopher, Pearl Pedersen, Jean Lehman, Esther Presler (Keith), Ruby Thompson (Don), Russell Torkelson (Loralee), David Torkelson (Carol), Steven Torkelson and Bruce Torkelson (Mary). He is also survived by 15 grandchildren; and 5 great-grandchildren.
