He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter M. Hoekstra and Florence Hoekstra (De Boer); his former wife Mina Van Maanen; his wife Harriet Van Leeuwen (Heidsma); his grandson-in-law Mike Tietgen; his great grandchild Noah John Hoekstra; his siblings, Eunice (Gerrit Brummel), Bernice (Bert Van Maanen), Martin (Stella Hoekstra), George (Greda Hoekstra), Donald (Margaret Hoekstra), John (Nelva Hoekstra), Peter (Sharon Hoekstra) and Henry (Hilly Hoekstra); and his siblings-in-law, Ray Brunsting, Alvin Mulder, Roy Van Maanen (Grace), Tom Van Maanen (Gerdena), Ed Van Maanen, Lyda, Harold Van Maanen and Ella (Andrew Meendering).
He is survived by: his children, Marilyn (Loran Te Grotenhuis), Phyllis (Leon Uittenbogaard) of Hull, Charles (Kathy Hoekstra) of Sioux Falls, Peter (LaVonne Hoekstra) of Sioux Center, Tim (Judy Hoekstra) of Chino, California, Everett (Cathy Hoekstra) of Urbandale and Elaine (Kelly Ensz) of Tea; his children-in-law, Leanne and James Bonnecroy of Orange City; his children, Michelle, George Rispens of Pixley, California, Jacqueline, Henry Van Maanen of Doon, Julie and Hans Wilting of Meadowbank; his sisters, Florence "Flossie" Brunsting of Rock Valley and Dorothy Mulder of Ontario, California; and his sisters-in-law, Christine Van Maanen of Rock Valley, Lois Van Maanen of Rock Valley and Jane (Henry Hoksbergen) of Hull. He is also survived by 28 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; 13 great-great-grandchildren; four step-daughters.
Memorials will be given to Justice For All in Rock Valley.
