He was predeceased by: his parents, Sam P. Westra and Gertrude Westra (Post); his siblings, Arlene Westra, Dwayne Westra, Deana (Henry Fluit) and Don Westra; his sister-in-law Hilene Westra; his nephew Mitchel Westra; and also, Henry Van Wyhe (Clazina), Clarence Van Wyhe and Carol Van Wyhe.

He is survived by: his wife JoAnn Van Wyhe of Hull; his daughters, Brenda (Dale Kraayenbrink) and Linda (Steve Janecek); his grandchildren, Nicole (Todd De Weerd) of Sioux Center, Derek Kraayenbrink (Erin) of Sioux Center, Katie (Grant Howe) of Hinton, Matthew Janecek (Jessica) of Harrisburg, Michael Janecek of Sioux Falls, Travis Janecek of Sioux Falls, Jordan Janecek (Abigail) of Sioux Falls and Jeremy Janecek of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren-in-law, Gary of Hull and Sandy Westra of Hull; his grandchildren, Wes of Hull and Brenda Westra of Hull; his siblings-in-law, Beth Westra of Fulda, Minnesota, Joey Westra of Hull, Arlene Van Wyhe of Rock Rapids and Ray (Carol Van Wyhe) of Luverne, Minnesota; his aunt Pearl Roozing of Hull; and his close friend Terri Mouw of Sioux Center. He is also survived by thirteen great-grandchildren, with one on the way; two brothers.
