He was predeceased by: his parents, Gershom Donald and Edna Van Roekel (Vermeer); his sister Marilyn Rausch; and also, Floyd, Marie Van Kley, Dwayne Westra and Tim Ribbens.
He is survived by: his wife Carol Marlene Van Kley; his children, Galen Van Roekel (Kimberly) of St. John, Indiana, Lisa (Brian De Boer) of Sioux Center, Greg Van Roekel (Sara) of Hull and Ryan Van Roekel of Sioux Falls; his grandchildren, Kylie (Ben Buma), Mackenzie (Blake Mellema), Cambrie Van Roekel, Gabe Van Roekel, Braden De Boer, Brock De Boer, Gage Van Roekel, Tyson Van Roekel and Grayden Van Roekel; his sisters, Beth Westra of Fulda, Minnesota, Carole (Walter Kilmanas) of Minnetrista, Minnesota and Linn (Brad Vermeer) of Overland Park, Kansas; his brother-in-law Jim Rausch of Rowlett, Texas; and also, Marilynn Ribbens (Lyle Gritters) of Sioux Center, Bill Van Kley (Sandy) of Sioux Center and Leon Van Kley (Kathy) of Sioux Center. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
