He was predeceased by: his parents, Louis Schepen and Winifred Van Schepen (Clearbout); his wife Judith Iris Vander Zwaag; his daughter Jody Lynn Van Schepen; his sister Phyllis Manthey; his brothers-in-law, Henry Vander Zwaag, Glen Vander Zwaag, Dave Halde and Fred Harris; and his niece Jane De Zeeuw.
He is survived by: his sons, Chris (Cheri Van Schepen) and Jeff (Julie Van Schepen); his grandchildren, Nicole Pranke, Austin Van Schepen, Jacie Van Schepen, Dawson Van Schepen, Jaden Van Schepen and Maggie Van Schepen; his sister Lyla Halde-Harris of Sioux Falls; and his siblings-in-law, Harriet Vander Zwaag of Sioux Center, Gail Vander Zwaag of Spirit Lake, Claude Vander Zwaag (Betty) of Orange City and Bill Manthey. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Jude's Children's Research or the Christian Care Fund at the First Reformed Church.
