He was predeceased by: his parents, Lloyd J. Loonan and Elizabeth Bedford Loonan; his wife Margaret H. Richards; and his siblings, Martha Nation, Jean Taylor-Grinnell, Ruth Thompson, Jim and Dan Loonan.
He is survived by: his daughters, Carol Dick (Jeff) of Cedar Falls and LeeAnn Armstrong (Norm) of Round Lake; his grandchildren, Jeremy Dick, Erin Wittkowski (Paul), Rebecca Frerichs (Nick) and Robert Armstrong (Bridgette); his stepgrandchildren, Teresa Strayer (Bert) and Todd Armstrong (Brenda); and his sister-in-law Mavis Loonan of Ames. He is also survived by seven great-grandchildren, eight step-great grandchildren.
