He was predeceased by: his parents, William Gettler and Mary Rose Gettler (Mosman); and his siblings, Irma Mueller, Glenna Heiderschiet, Mary Lou Short, Greg Gettler, Gerald Gettler, Vernon Gettler, Walter Gettler, Paul Gettler and Billy Gettler.
He is survived by: his wife Hospers; his daughters, Julie (Patrick Jacobs) and Janet (Kevin Richter); his grandchildren, Brittney Carlberg, Brady Carlberg, Megan Schuld, Cory Richter and Spencer Richter; his great grandchildren, Wyatt, Paytin, Brooklyn and Alivia; and his siblings, Laura (Dennis Barber), Larry Gettler and Danny Gettler. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at the St. Anthony Catholic Church (501 Elm Ave, Hospers, IA 51238). A funeral Mass was held on Saturday, December 28th 2024 at 10:30 AM at the same location.
Memorials will be given to the fundraising efforts for a new Emergency Services Facility in Hospers.
