He is survived by: his wife Mary Steffensmeier; his children, Betty Feldmann (Merlin) of Epworth, Mike Hellmann of Dubuque, Barb Hellmann (Steve) of Dubuque, Rhonda Tranel (Tim) of Dubuque and Wayne Hellmann (Teresita) of Holy Cross; his grandchildren, Tracy Kayser (Matt) of Renton, WA, Nathan Tranel (Marypaz) of Valparaiso, IN, Jarrett Tranel (Ashley) of Palentine, IL, Nikki Tranel of Dubuque, Katie and Kristine Hellmann of Holy Cross; his great grandchildren, Frances, Elwood Kayser and Baby Tranel; his siblings, Clete Hellmann (Correne) of Ryan and Eileen Recker Prier (Ed) of Dyersville; and his in-laws, Eileen Hellmann of Ryan, Fred Steffensmeier of Farley, Jim Steffensmeier (Rita) of Dyersville, Agnes Steffensmeier of Dyersville and Elaine Steffensmeier of Dyersville. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
