He was predeceased by: his father Larry Kovarna; his brother Tim Kovarna; and his brother-in-law Greg Sammelson. He is survived by: his children, James Kovarna of Hinton and Kali Kovarna of Hinton; the mother of his children Alicia Hohl of Sioux City, Iowa; his mother Norma Kovarna of Hinton; his siblings, Tom Kovarna of Hinton and Darcy Sammelson of Vermillion, SD; and his nieces, Ashley Bracht (Tony) of McCook Lake, SD and Lauren of McCook Lake, SD..
Visitation was held on Monday, April 21st 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel (3220 Stone Park Blvd, Sioux City, IA 51104). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 22nd 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Trinity Lutheran Church (29014 Lake Ave, Hinton, IA 51024).
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Main Street Living, Trinity Lutheran Church, or a trust fund for James and Kali Kovarna.
