He was predeceased by: his parents, Albert Duwa and Zita Duwa (Waldschmidt); and his siblings, Eulalia, Bernice, Mildred, Robert and Lamont.
He is survived by: his wife Lucille; his children, Larry (Sheena) of Fort Collins, CO., Bev Trammell (Leonard) of Mesquite, TX., Judy Cambridge (Carl) of Hills, IA and Jan Barnes (Randy Rath) of Coralville; his grandchildren, Alan Duwa (Ronnie) of New Port Richey, FL, Mark Irvin (Laura) of Cedar Rapids, Stephanie Irvin of Iowa City, Kati Pope (Brad) of Cummings, GA, Nicole Polk (Matt) of Falls Church, VA, Rob Duwa (Darlene) of Coralville, Corey Barnes (Sydney) of Iowa City, Josh Barnes of North Liberty, Jessica Saucedo (Rossi) of Forney, TX and Shawn (Angie McCreary) of Ft. Worth, TX.; and his brothers, Melvin and Ed. He is also survived by twelve great-grandchildren plus one due in May; seven step-grandchildren, 3 step-great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made in his memory to Iowa City Hospice.
