He was loved and cherished by many people including: his former wife Sharon Peterson; his wife Janet Griffith; his children, Ted Hinrichsen, Robin Wheeler (Dane), Theresa Harrison (Steve), Marcy Clark (Mark), Ben Hinrichsen (Missy), Anamosa, Suzanne Garrels (Ron), Ted Criswell (Sammy), Becky Criswell, Fairfield and Kim Criswell; and his great grandchild Keaton Garrels. He was also cherished by 29 grandchildren and 13 great grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in his honor can be made to the Hiawatha Care Center or to Alcoholics Anonymous.
