He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Sr. Szewc and Anna Szewc (Sumra); his son David; and his brother Walter Szewc Jr.. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Michaely; his children, John Jr. (Sandy), Richard (Julie), Stephen (Tamara) and Laurie Carlton (Kane); his grandchildren, Kyle, Jill, Jenna (Ray), Michael, Andrew, Alexandria, Madison, Megan, Chase, Kaden, Ashlee, Blake and Kaleb; and his great grandchild Wesley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in John's honor to the American Red Cross.
