She was predeceased by: her parents, G. B. "Bob" Heitland and Velma Heitland (Smith); her husband Dick; and her sons, Allan and Burr Ekstrand.

She is survived by: her daughter Janet Herrington (Clancy); her sister Carol Maxwell of Sun City, AZ; her grandchildren, BJ Ekstrand of Hazelton, IA, Eric Ekstrand of Oelwein, IA, Spencer Walrath (EmilyAnn) of Chicago, IL and Erin Ekstrand of Oelwein, IA; and her great grandchildren, Tristan Ekstrand and Joseph Walrath.

Memorials may be directed to the family.
