He was predeceased by: his parents, Ross Hedlund and Mildred Hedlund (Phillips); and his brothers, Dale Hedlund and David Hedlund. He is survived by: his nieces, Annette Myers (Rich) of Ottumwa and Peggy Coplen (Marshall) of Lawrence; and his close friend Teresa Fisher of Ottumwa.
