He was predeceased by: his parents, Peter Lars and Ruth Thompson (Rifenbark); his sisters, Millie and Marge; and his wife Janet Ruth McDiarmid.
He is survived by: his children, Jim, Bill, Dana Thompson (Palmer) of Sioux City, Joan Thompson of Erie and Sharla Thompson (Vanden Top) of Le Mars, Iowa; his sister Lura Gayer (Thompson) of Sioux Center, Iowa; and his brother-in-law Bob (Colleen McDiarmid). He is also survived by seven grandchildren, four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
