He was predeceased by: his parents, Fred Dirks and Margaret Dirks (Renken); his son Duane Dirks; his siblings, Arlene Schulz Dirks, Mildred, Ed Burleson, Reva, Art Albright, Darrel, Neva Dirks, Myrna, Vernon Howard, Pearl, Al Eilers and Dale Schulz; and also, Edwin, Bertha Johnson, Merrill Johnson, Phillip Johnson, Wendell Pearson and Robert Hendricks.
He is survived by: his wife Ihlo M. Dirks; his children, Roxann Dobesh, Angela Gradert (Ernest) and Steven Dirks (Amy); his sister Della Busch (Brad); and his sisters-in-law, Carol Pearson, Dorothy Lee Hendricks and Dorothy Ann Johnson. He is also survived by 8 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren.
