He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Koons and Hildreth Koons (Willey); and his siblings, Warren Koons, Marion Koons, Norman Koons, Leland Koons, Connie Heaton, Phyllis Vroegh, Carley DeMoss, Karen Heaton, Gwen Bly and Robert "Bobby" Koons.

He is survived by: his wife Paula Jean Bailey of Harvey; his son Jason Koons of Melcher; his sister Corine Bennet (Randy) of Knoxville; and his grandchildren, Austin and Alexus Koons.

A memorial has been established for Butch to St. Jude's Hospital.
