He was predeceased by: his mother Thelma Mae Gordon, Sr. (Marshall); his wife Marian Marlene Gordon (Vander Heiden); his father John Gordon,; and his daughter Kathy Gordon. He is survived by: his children, Brenda "Sue" Ver Meer of Harvey, Kelly Eugene Gordon (Lori) of Tracy and Misty Dawn Gordon of Harvey; and his grandchildren, Bret Pettyjohn, Tanya Bebee, Randy Gordon, Amanda Frye, Sarah McLaughlin, Shalee Van De Boe and Rylee Van De Boe.

A memorial has been established in John's memory to the Shriner's Children Hospital.
