He was predeceased by: his parents, Walter Hirt and Anna Hirt (Goering); his siblings, Dale, Blaine Hirt and Ruth Ann; his siblings-in-law, Dr. Duane Wehler and Kathryn Jane Hirt; his niece Lisa Bojens; his nephews, Bradley Hirt, Markham Hirt and Bill Wehler; and his great great grandchild Caden Diersen.
He is survived by: his wife Betty; his daughters, Jennene (Glenn Maurer) and Jeri (James Potter); his grandchildren, Chad Maurer, Erin Curry (Douglas), Jason Potter (Kristy) and Andrea Potter; his sister Konnie Bojens (Roger); and his sister-in-law Dorothy Hirt. He is also survived by eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces, nephews and other friends and relatives.
